Amsterdam Heritage Walk: Resistance Stories, Self-Guided App Tour

About this experience

Amsterdam's wartime resistance has names and street numbers. The walk starts at Jonas Daniël Meijerplein, where the Dockworker statue marks the February Strike of 1941, then the Hollandsche Schouwburg, the former theatre that became a holding place from July 1942. Across the street Henriëtte Pimentel's crèche helped move about 600 children out. On 27 March 1943 Willem Arondeus and Gerrit van der Veen hit the registry on Plantage Kerklaan dressed as police. Fourteen stops, ending at the Nationaal Monument on Dam Square, unveiled on 4 May 1956. How it works This is a self-guided digital walking tour in the StepQuests mobile app. There is no live guide.
