Groningen Heritage Walk: The Grey Tower and the New Square, Self-Guided App Tour
42 minutes

About this experience
Groningen still runs from a grey tower. Stadjers call the Martinitoren d'Olle Grieze, the old grey one, the third tower on the site after lightning and fire took the first two. The walk circles the Grote Markt past the stadhuis that Jacob Otten Husly won a contest for in the 1770s, the 1635 Goudkantoor tax office, and the Forum, the glass neighbour that arrived in 2019 after earthquakes in the gas field forced a redesign. It finishes at the Academiegebouw of the Rijksuniversiteit. Ten stops, about 1.5 km. How it works This is a self-guided digital walking tour in the StepQuests mobile app. There is no live guide.
